The Smelted Ghost
The inn stands out amongst the row of buildings on the street because of the fountain just out in its small yard. It shows a human man made of stone in a rather peculiar and painful pose, contorted and twisted by some unknown force. The cracks in the stone have been laced with some metal, perhaps to repair it, perhaps to decorate it.
From his mouth a font of water leaps out into the small pool in which he stands. An intricate pattern made of that same metal covers the floor of the pool, made of thin lines and geometric shapes.

Someone who is proficient in the Arcana skill can make a DC 17 Arcana check to read the runes at the bottom of the fountain, otherwise a DC 20 Arcana check is required.
On a successful check the players can discern that the runes are made up of four separate quadrants, each a layer of warding (abjuration) magic. Each is acting as its own layer of protection, using the metal that's inlayed into the statue as a conduit for passing the magical power, keeping the man trapped.
They will know that each quadrant is locked by a specific magical key and that all four need to be gathered in order to dispel the runes. The runes are immune to the "Knock" and "Identify" spells. Each of them is bound by spells.html though the identify spell does not reveal that.
